I admittedly thought this was a duology and now I’m just- how am I supposed to wait for the third book? D:

Favourite quote:
This was not the theoretical application of troop movements and provisions, done from a distance on a scrap of parchment. Yverte had neglected to describe how a woman stared at you, eyes pleading, as you stole her last breath with your blade. Their slow dulling.

I REALLY enjoyed this one!! A very unique book, and if you like fantasy you really don’t want to miss out on it!

The narration for the audiobook was amazing, 10/10 I will get a copy of the book so I can actually sit down and read it and experience all of that again

A very interesting story, but it was a little bit too predictable for me

The whole book just felt a bit flat to me.
Enjoyable, but lacking in the scary department

I have very mixed feelings about this book. I liked the premise, but the  execution felt a bit lacking to me

Favourite quotes:

The current pulled at me, but it wasn’t carrying me away anymore. I imagined the string in my back keeping me tied to the shore.
“Hold on, Seaweed Brain.” It was Annabeth’s voice, much clearer now. “You’re not getting away from me that easily.”
The cord strengthened.

“You’re the greatest heroes of this millennium,” I told them. “It doesn’t matter how many monsters come at you. Fight bravely, and we will win.” I raised Riptide and shouted, “FOR OLYMPUS!”

“Get back!” I slashed the air in a wide arc, driving the rest of the demigods away from Annabeth. “No one touches her!”

“So,” she said, “are you going to argue about me coming along?”
“Nah. You’d just beat me up.”

“Yes, quite. I will deny I ever said this, of course, but the gods need heroes. They always have. Otherwise we would not keep you annoying little brats around.”
“I feel so wanted. Thanks.”

Favourite quotes:

“Look, the point is, I have to go in. I’ll find the workshop and stop Luke. And … I need help.” She turned to me. “Will you come?”
I didn’t even hesitate. “I’m in.”

Part of me was impressed with her for standing up like that. But part of me thought her pride was going to get us killed.

Her eyes were puffy from crying, but she managed to say, “He was probably the bravest friend I’ve ever had. He …” Then she saw me. Her face went blood red. “He’s right there!”

“This might be it,” she said.
“Could be.”
“Nice fighting with you, Seaweed Brain.”
“Ditto.”

Nico hesitated. “I don’t play that game anymore. It’s for kids.”
“It’s got four thousand attack power,” I coaxed.
“Five thousand,” Nico corrected. “But only if your opponent attacks first.”
I smiled. “Maybe it’s okay to still be a kid once in a while.”

Favourite quote:
“Stars,” she whispered. “I can see stars again, my lady.”
A tear trickled down Artemis’s cheek. “Yes, my brave one. They are beautiful tonight.”
“Stars,” Zoë repeated. Her eyes fixed on the night sky.
And she did not move again.
