this book had me SOBBING throughout the last two chapters !! im simultaneously glad because i knew i would really like this but also surprised because i didn't realise how much i would. taylor jenkins reed has a way of telling stories that just leaves me in awe i think

the ending with her being nicki chan's coach after losing to her in the finals? best thing i could've ever asked for i was speechless i cannot think of a better ending

this might be one of the best books i’ve ever read? the themes of anxiety and fandom culture and the price of fame was just so interesting to read in alice’s writing style !! i honestly think i would read anything they write at this point.

enjoyed this !! i rly fell in love with the cast of characters—they carried the entire story. i had to suspend my disbelief a lot when it came to the plot but overall, it was a fun, queer, ya romcom [ that should absolutely be made into a show ] [ also ?? i adore smith ]. i love how normalised and extensive this cast of queer characters are, even though they live in a conservative, unaccepting environment.
