Budding true crime blogger and amateur sleuth Maggie Shaw is thrust into the limelight when there's a murder at The Influencer of the Year awards and she launches her first ever real life murder investigation.
Hosted on a luxurious yacht sailing along the River Thames, the awards ceremony hits the headlines for all the wrong reasons when star attraction Stella Knight is discovered dead in her cabin and was found to have been poisoned. Surrounded by potential suspects Maggie teams up with top influencer Reiss Rose to investigate the fellow guests.
Maggie's investigation soon runs aground when the yacht moors back in London and the police arrive. Determined to solve the case herself (and subsequently grow her following) Maggie with Reiss in tow continue their enquiries despite the warnings from the police to not get involved.
For me, I found once the plot left the yacht it lost a sense of urgency, it removed the element of a locked room mystery and being trapped with a murder. From that point on the story routinely cycled through a number of different suspects, all with solid enough motives for murder but it is not until the epilogue that the real killer is revealed and this will leave me questioning all thrillers I read from now onwards! Appearances can be deceiving!

Four amateur hikers set out on what was meant to be a picturesque walk in the Swiss Alps but only two return - was this a tragedy or was it treachery?
Chosen as my @amazonkindle first reads for September, The Hike was just what I needed to get out of my recent reading slump. As sisters Cat and Ginny arrive with their husbands in the quaint village of Bern ahead of a relaxed hike in the mountains, it soon becomes apparent that there is friction within the group but also that there is a dark and foreboding plan at play.
After hours on their feet, the hikers begin to unravel; tensions are frayed, secrets bubble to the surface and the mountainside provides the perfect opportunity for an accident or two.
One for fans of Ruth Ware, The Hike is captivating read full of twists and turns right until the end.

In the wilderness... it's kill or be killed. Told from the POV of two sisters, the Hiker follows the mysterious disappearance of Gemma in a remote town far from home and Sarah's dogged attempts to uncover what happened.
⚠️ Harsh, clinical and elitist, Q is set in a dystopian world where our every action matters, where regular testing is requist, undertaken to calculate a person quotient, their Q. The importance of this one number is life changing, enough to determine whether life is even allowed to begin.
