Heart-wrenching and real

Love the narration style and the care taken with the storytelling

Really liked it until about 40-60 pages from the end, when the protagonist began thinking and acting seemingly out of character and making me mad

Just. So. Good.

I was fascinated by the stories, but the book is neither well-organized nor particularly well-written, and a whole lot of privilege came through in the writing style...

I used to adore this book. It was my favorite book for years. Well, one of my top five favorites. Perhaps it still is. But now, as a 30-year-old woman, nearly 10 years after I first encountered it, I see Rob and all his narration for the male-centrism and misogyny they are. Slight bummer. But still a fantastic book that makes me ashamed of my paltry record collection.
