The stuff on the Mother archetype is surprisingly unbearable reading. Geez oh man, C.G., I realise you're speaking from 1933, but it's time to detangle Freud's hangups about women from your theoretical applications.

Broadly interesting, and purports to take an intellectually rigorous approach to its subject matter, but I found its research a bit thin. The authors glancingly reference their own work at one point without going on to acknowledge directly that they've referenced their own work, which could point to a lack of other source material to consult, but struck this reader as ... a bit disingenuous, and I was left feeling informed neither much about history, nor folklore.

I just really admire the balance of comedy with very serious intellectual rigour in Sara's writing. Top stuff. I wish she was my big sister.
