I watched One Tree Hill about a year ago or so and I loved it. I came across her book as I was scrolling for something new to listen to on my commutes to work and I was shocked. I had no idea she was in a cult and all of the things that she experienced as she was in it. I am happy that there were still people around her that were trying to help her even if that was something she wasn't looking for at the time. There were times I was frustrated as I was listening to the book, judging her as to why she couldn't see the signs, but that kind of judgement is what keeps people so closed off. Even so, there were many moments she was right there and she was so close to uncovering everything, but to no avail. She is a talented actress and singer. I hope she's doing a lot better now with her daughter.

I forgot I checked this book out from my library ebook app. I started to read it, but couldn't really get into it. I started reading another book and was hooked on that one. Maybe later on I will revisit it, but I am not sure that I will.

I find that this book was my favorite out of the three. I could be biased as I feel like I relate to Halle I some aspects. Once I picked up the book I didn't want to put it down! I really enjoyed the pacing of this book and the progression between the characters felt natural and not forced.
I'm so happy that Halle stood her ground and stood up for herself! Not only to Will but to her mother. The clear character development as I kept reading was great!
Overall, I really enjoyed it!

I have been listening to this book during my commutes to and from my internship and I enjoyed it. There was a brief period of time where I had stopped listening as I "ran out of listening hours" on Spotify and was waiting for my subscription to renew to continue! I really loved listening to Michelle's story behind her upbringing and how she got herself to where she was. It was really inspiring and it gave me a lot of hope that one can do anything as long as they put their mind to it. Listening to Michelle and Barack's love story coming to be was really sweet. That, and learning on Michelle's POV about how politics can get in between lots of things with their life. A great listen! Highly recommend!

I got this book initially as I saw it being circulated in a library that is on TikTok. The creator @meetmeinthemediacenter does all kinds of school library content and some books she shows on there really pique my interest. From time to time I look on my library ebook app to check if they might have the book. This book happened to be one of the books that I saw on there and it seemed interesting. I began to read it and noticed I hadn't really picked it back up. I tried reading it more and more. I did today as I was at work and more again after and I stopped. I'm sure this book is great, but it wasn't for me. Maybe someday I'll check it out again on my app, but for right now, I have returned it.

I finally was able to finish this book after starting it earlier this year. Things got ahead of me and only now in recent times I got back into reading and have made more time for it. I was shocked at all the things she went through to get to where she is now. I feel like this book fights for change and to challenge those to go for what they believe in and to not let anyone tell you otherwise. It felt like it was similar to what people are fighting for today. Overall, a great read. I also believe there is a show based off of this book and from what I remember it is Brie Larson as the main character. I imagined her as I was reading this book. That's my next show for sure!
