This book was an absolute delight to read! The pacing was great, keeping me engaged from start to finish without ever dragging. One of my favorite elements was the “found family” dynamic—it gave the story so much heart and warmth.

Layla stood out as a particularly memorable protagonist. She’s flawed, sometimes even unlikeable, which made her feel so real and relatable. It was refreshing to follow a character who isn’t perfect but is trying her best, especially as she navigates the complexities of her relationship with her daughter, Maya. That subplot added so much depth to the story and grounded the romance beautifully.

Speaking of sweetness, Clay’s relationship with Maya completely melted my heart. The way he connected with her was tender and authentic, adding another layer to the story and showing the different types of love throughout the book. Honestly, the whole book felt like one giant love confession.

This was my first book in the series, but I’m already excited to go back and catch up on the earlier ones. If they’re anything like this, I’m in for a treat.
