This was never going to be my favourite because Priscilla is a cop (and I don’t feel it was handled quite as deftly as Easton being a prosecutor). And while you can’t exactly set that aside since Priscilla’s job is so integral to her character, I did really enjoy the rest of the book. One of my favourite things about this series is how strong and soft all the heroes are, and they’re all so comfortable with themselves. Juan Pablo is no different, he’s done the work before the story even starts and spends the whole time showing Priscilla how much he’s changed. We get some great side characters in this one, outwith the main group, and now I really want books for Bri and Yariel.

I’m kind of all over the place on this one. At the beginning the power dynamics made me uncomfortable, but once we get inside Calai’s head I was charmed (especially when he comes back into the hall!). Things get real violent real quick though (not between him and Starling) and I wasn’t on board. I think it wrapped up well but it was a bit off-putting there in the middle.

The cover art had me thinking this was going to be a darker romance, but do not let it fool you: this is a small-town romance with a cinnamon bun hero and IT. IS. ADORABLE. I love a secret softie MMC and Jackson is that to a T. He’s so gone for Sadia from the jump. And Sadia is so strong and knows herself so well. I was really glad we didn’t get her agonising over Paul, and I thought the plot and the obstacles she and Jackson had to overcome were realistic and well-paced. This is going on my ‘purchase’ list because I need to revisit these two again and again.
