Very compelling at points. Unfortunately it's also rife with misogyny and obsessed with John Keats.

Very long, in a way that doesn't feel justified. A lot of stuff was brushed over too quickly. I wish Griff got more characterization.

Somehow both too long and frustratingly shallow at the same time,  which is kind of impressive I guess.

Started reading this over a month and a half ago. I started being quite invested in Taylor's story, but then it shift to be focused on the wards and I realized I'm just really damn bored, and barely 20% through.
I wish there were fewer fight scenes, which were getting a bit repetitive, and more explanations/glimpses of the world and how it differs from ours. The few things we do hear up to this point like
scion, the leviathan/endbringers, part of Canada being gone???
were super interesting but not really expanded on for twelve hundred pages.
I love long, slow books (see "jonathan strange and mr norrell") but this is too much for me, at least right now.

170 pages in and I'm just so damn bored

Edit, four months later: I said what I said but I still find myself thinking about this book.

Dragged quite a bit, but overall I mostly enjoyed it.
