i absolutely loved this book. i enjoy graphic novels but often have a hard time with the storylines as they seem scattered often. this author is incredible in how she has adapted her story over time and it's now a dance theatre production too. the majority of the book is really heartbreaking and really puts you in a place where you feel you need to understand how frightening her accident must have been but also so very inspiring in that she creates a world of her own. I was fascinated by all the assistive technology in the book as well and it made me want to do more research afterwards. If you're thinking about reading this book, if not for the art, the storyline and message are phenomenal too. the art is fantastic and in the back it talks about how she was able to coordinate with an illustrator and actually be able to see her pieces.

this is probably my favorite graphic novel i have ever read. i typically will sit with them in one sitting. i chose to pick this one off the library shelf and boy what a story. a story surrounding community, adventure and creativity. i was skeptical about how everything would go about finishing but i promise you you will not want to put this book down. the only reason i didn't rate it 5 stars is because i wish it was longer and the ending was longer but truly it didn't need to be! the art is incredible, the story is so captivating and the themes of courage and compassion and community are so strong in this book. i will be purchasing my own copy :)
