This was soooooo good! I loved so much of it. The friendship between the 4 kids was extremely healthy. They had moments where they bickered, but they learned to communicate and apologize. They motivated each other. The theme of fear was handled great! They would ask each other “are you scared too?” And just accepting that ya, sometimes stuffs just scary, and that’s ok. The calming breathing techniques used was great as well. Focusing on calming down, and refocusing. Take a moment, and relax.

This honestly is a great way to write kid characters. Not toxic little brats that glorifies “ew gross adults bad, kids need to act out and not be understanding to be relatable.” Nah they were all really understanding and willing to just experience the now, and not cry and whine about the what if’s.

I feel like this is a great book for kids to teach them that:
Fear is natural. Not a weakness, and not a sign of lack of courage.
Gratitude for the good things helps stay strong in the darkness moments.
Friends are precious and must understand each other no matter their differences.
Keep a positive mind. It will bring you strength even when you want to doubt yourself. Fight the negative thoughts the best you can with positive thoughts.
Your friends are there for you. You’re not alone, and you can rely on them.

I found this one to be slow, even though it really wasn’t. It was a busy book! So much happened, a lot of major stuff happened, but it seemed to drag out at times. Still really good. I ended up liking alot of characters I hated at first, but this clump of characters the book followed was definitely dryer than the previous 2 books. Considering the slow moments in the book, that makes sense. I almost didn’t care about alot of it and just wanted to go back to Holden most of the time, but that might be because I love Holden. Haha

So I’m so mixed with this book. Series in general. There’s a great story there. The last 20% is fantastic. Each book has a great ending, but most of the book is very boring and stretched out. I feel like it could have been 2 books, cut down to have a better pacing, and not lose anything.
