I loved all the fantasy elements of this book. I started off liking the romance in the book yet then it quickly turned at the end. The romance scene in the kitchen between Asher and Lore felt unnecessary. It was so close to the end of the book I wish we got more of the fantasy story at that point. Also the disrespect on
the table that you and Finn worked at girl!
They had to handle the love triangle yet the author had laid clues and I’m surprised I didn’t connect the dots sooner. I could tell that this book was not going to wrap up nicely based on how much of the book was left.

This is the first paranormal romance book I have read. Ali had made changes to both the vampyres and weres. Misery and the other vampyers are not immortal therefore there is no large age gap between the characters. This made the book more appealing to me. This book also kept me surprised with plenty of dramatic twist and turns. I also liked that the book had a little  mystery with the
disappearance of Serena
outside of the romance.

I would recommend reading this story, I normally don’t read nonfiction or graphic novels yet when I saw the cover at my local library I was intrigued. I am glad I picked it up. This story mainly focused on Tsai Kun-lin and his family durning the transition of power over Taiwan from Japan to China after Japan losing in WWII. This book is a great example of why reading is always political. Tsai attends college at his teachers request he starts to attend a professors book club for a short stint of time. These actions severely alter Tsai’s life. I also thought the graphic novel had a strong use of color that helped aided in telling this story.

I was so excited for the book as someone that loves to grow flowers. In the end I found this book to just be okay. I personally don’t like pop culture references in my books. This book had way too many in the first half in my opinion. Also this book was slow and mostly just introducing a bunch of characters in town that all had secrets. Then it dramatically picked up in the last 50 pages. Only for the book to end on a cliffhanger. This made me feel like I just read the world longest prologue

This is the first series I have ever read where there is no one to root for and it made it all the more difficult to enjoy. The only character I felt bad for by the end of this novel was Stilgar. The man has constantly lived under colonial powers, and is just trying his best it seems. I really appreciated that he got to have these two kind of
parallel reflective moments at the beginning and ending of the book.
The author would introduce new characters I would start to like and root for them only to be disappointed with the characters actions later. I was so excited that Leto II was putting Lady Jessica in her place at the beginning of the novel for abandoning Alia. I also really enjoyed the middle sections of this book where the twins were
actively scheming and trying to dismantle the world they lived in and restore the planet. Only for Leto II to decide to become the supreme overlord although it dismantled the plans of the Bene Gesserit he is now acting in the same manner as they were.I was hoping that he was going to run away and stay hidden and get a love story
unlike his dad…. I also loved the Frank Herbert actually used foul language in this book. I felt like in the past 2 book Frank using the word witch in a derogatory way was repetitive and boring and wish he would use more vocabulary so I was pleasantly shocked when
Alia/Barron
used a different word to describe Jessica. I also disliked this new angle for Paul he seemed to get a slight redemption arc went Leto II went out in the desert.

I really enjoyed reading this novel yet it had a lot of diction I didn’t understand. Started by googling the words I didn’t know yet quickly had to give up and just rely on context clues. I found this novel had a slow start yet by the second part I was captivated and it kept me on the edge of my seat with its romance and drama for the remainder of the book . I also was pleasantly surprised by what the title was referring to in the context of the story and found it very endearing.

This was a reread for me. I absolutely adored this book series as a middle schooler. As a dyslexic child I absolutely clung on to the fact that Percy and the other demigods were also dyslexic. It made me feel so much more connected to the characters and it gave me hope at a time I was really struggling with school. This time around I was so focused and annoyed about not remembering the ending that I feel I rushed through this reread and didn’t enjoy the story as much as I thought I would. I think also rereading this in semi tandem with first 4 episodes of show release made it had to follow and remember what I had seen vs what I had read. I wish I had waited till after I had finished watching the show in its entirety and given myself time to breathe before revisiting this book.
