Ari and Dante and their way of communicating with each other, etc. were lowkey giving me hope in the male species but then I realized that the book plays in the 80s.

there were no men with podcasts and Andrew rate fans in the 80s.

I think this is mainly my fault and not the book’s but it started out as a five star read and got boring towards the end idk

all of the stories were amazing in their own individuality though!

Objectively: 5 stars
But subjectively 3.5

Definitely won’t be forgetting some stories anytime soon though, that’s for sure!

I will say, Murakami IS brilliant. However.

wtf was the point of this story?? You can just read the blurb and move on bc nothing happens that hasn’t already been stated in the blurb lmao

His author’s note in which he writes about *his* birthday tho!!!!! love! the reason why it’s rated 2.5 and not 2 stars! If Murakami ever writes a memoir I will be the first to buy it!!! the way he makes simple things seem so deep and philosophical!!! The way he thinks and the way his brain works!!!
