Did not finish book.

Despite my initial interest in the book, by the end, I could not wait for it to be over. The book's plot is quite interesting; the author's execution of their idea is subpar. Isabel Allende spends too much of the book describing each setting and every character's back story. She also elaborates on a lot of unnecessary information irrelevant to the plot. Additionally, every likable protagonist has a quality that diminishes their character. For example, many characters throughout the book are racist, sexist, or egotistical. I did not finish the book. It was too unbearable.

I enjoy how this book leans in to its comedic cheesiness, especially with how it resembles my way of thinking/speaking, however, it often becomes overbearing. Jake, the main character, is incapable of not having at least 10 cheesy lines per conversation. It was dramatic. At first, it was fun and entertaining, but considering the audio book was 10hrs long, and the book is 400 pages, it became more than a little excessive. On top of which, the dialogue between any romantic interests often had be grimacing my face in second hand embarrassment. It was too cringe for my taste (and I love stupid cute romance

A feel good sapphic romance that I very much enjoyed :) It's not profound nor different from any other cheesy romance book between two college students, but it got me through the days and made my heart lighter. I thoroughly enjoyed how the two reluctantly fell for one another, and I loved all of their romantic scenes - from walking Rafael, to kissing in the snow, to kissing on a brick wall or in the gosh darn shower, they were so cute. I now want to take someone on a museum date. Also, live laugh love Beatrice.

I have hyper fixated on this book numerous times. I am emotionally attached to the characters. I want to marry Kaz and Inej.
