this was not expected. not on my tbr, but i'm glad to have read it. this book was very cute, but not quite a 5 star. i think i just needed more lily and tag couple moments idk.

there were a lot of schitt's creek references and thank god i  haven't watched that show because if i had, i would've hated this book.

there were also a lot of taylor swift references, and at first they were more subtle, but after a while they started to really be crammed in.

probably should've read this as a physical book instead of the audiobook, but it's all my library had on hand.

i thought this was funny, but probably would've enjoyed it more if i had the physical book.

so this was just okay... i was into it in the moment, but in now it's just meh. the romance was okay, not as good as it could've been.

the storyline with ava's family felt unnatural to me. it felt normal at first, then took an extreme turn.

the storyline with alex's family also felt unnatural. once again the first half of the book was dull and normal, then it took a sharp turn into less of a slice-of-life romance. not that it's a bad thing that it went towards more fiction, it was just not the tone the first half of the book had.

also, i used the audiobook for this and even though it didn't taint the book, man did i have a lot of trouble with that.

a good book, but overall i think i just like TJR's romantic/romance books better. those always pull a lot more emotion out of me.

i'm finally done with reading all of TJR's backlist and i'm so happy :) i started her books with seven husbands, and i definitely did not like it. but i'm glad i continued to read her books because her other books, especially the lesser known ones, have been some of my favorites of all time!

overall, if she continues to write, i shall definitely be reading :)
