This book I started somewhere in April... I eventually got really despondent with all the medical jargon fast forward September I picked it up again and told myself let's give it one more go.
I wasn't sorry, Paul takes you on a journey on his version of life and his understanding of looking at death in the face. A neurosurgeon who is diagnosed with a terminal illness, a doctor becomes a patient. This little book gives you so much insight into Kalanithi's life, his ups and downs, his love for his work family, friends and his battle towards a beautiful ending.
A definite read on a readers book bucket list.

Jade Butler was taught to take all the opportunities she is awarded. That she has, but why does she feel so out of place at a private school that she received a bursary to attend. Why is it when she joins the woman to woman program (Mrs Parker) suggested she feels like they want to "fix" girls from the bad neighborhoods.
Both Jade and her mentor have to learn things about each other even when they are bumping heads. This book follows Jade on a journey of race, history, politics and finding her own voice within and outside of the black community.
This is really one of those profound books where you sit back and think WOW! It's written with such warmth and depth.

True to the books title, Louisa Clark is still that quirky girl with the stripy tights, even after she has started her new job for the Gopniks miles away from her family and boyfriend. Even after Ambulance Sam breaks her heart, or when she meets Josh (who mind you has an uncanny resemblance to Will).
When Lou loses her job at the Gopniks she finds herself homeless and jobless. Despite everything that's going on, her last hope is taking care of a stern elderly lady and her pug with the bulging eyes. It's with Mrs DE Witt's wisdom that Lou truly finds her place in the world not conforming to anyone's standards of who she ought to be
My thoughts:
This was the necessary ending to Lou Clark's story. It definitely tugged at the heart strings. "a lesson in life" kind of ending. Through everything she had endured that passed year Lou was "Still Me".

Adam Kay introduces us to the gory, over-worked, underpaid & humorous side to being a doctor, with that a doctor in the labour ward. He documents his daily encounters in this book.
This book will have you laughing out loud. It really opens your eyes to the life of a doctor/health care worker. Definitely one of my favorites for this year so far. Even if you don't understand the medical lingo he has little explanations at the bottom the page.

Reality TV meets enemies to lovers trope. Amity and Cooper are amongst the contestants joining the show The Race to Riches or Romance. Set in the picturesque Oregon, these contestants will partner up, doing physical and mental tasks opening them up to their weaknesses and strengths. Amity proves to Cooper that she is in actual fact not as out of place as he thought. With Cooper's eye on the prize for the winning money, what will it take for him to potentially win it all? As always reality TV provides some popcorn-worthy entertainment and drama.
At first Cooper's behavior really rubbed me the wrong way and I was on the verge of DNF this book but I stuck around and I'm so glad I did, his portrail in the beginning made me understand his determination to win. My favorite character was definitely Bria. Who doesn't love a happy ending too.
Huge thanks to the incredible @lisasgayle (she knows why) for this ARC I can't wait for the second book.
