dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced

Oh My GOD! What a mind 🤯! This book is one wild ride! While reading this book, I keep reaching out to find others who could be reading or have read this book. I kept needing to talk to someone. It is addicting with so many dark twists and turns.

It is hard to fathom that this is Stacy Willingham's debut novel. This novel has established her as the next must read author. In fact, A Flicker in the Dark has already landed itself a TV spot on HBO with Emma Stone as the show runner.

A Flicker in the Dark will leave you guessing and gasping as more and more clues reveal the truth. It will keep you on your toes, keep you guessing, and make you want to hide under the cover; all the while making you continue to turn those pages. If you missed this one in your December BOTM box and missed it again in your January box, you have to pick it up on the 11th! You won't be disappointed!

🚨 Warning! 🚨This may be an unpopular opinion....

I have one word for this book: Cringy. I felt my face in a cringy state for most of it. It was epically disappointing. I was so excited to read Jasmine Guillory, because I have heard such positive things about her writing; however, this was... yuck.

I will admit I went into this book blindly. I forgot initially it was part of the Wedding Date Series, which I have been wanting to read, but with the holiday season, it just looked like the perfect book to finish up my Winter Break. Unfortunately for me, this one was flat. The character were boring and lacked development, their love story felt the same, and the sex... don't get me started. 🥴

Overall, I would skip this one. It is not worth the read. I do plan on giving Jasmine Guillory another try though!
