Children of the Dark by Jonathan Janz

My first Jonathan Janz book. I've been hearing some high praise in the Horror community for this author, and I went into this with some high expectations. Unfortunately, for me, these expectations might not have been realistic, and the book fell short. It was a good story, with some cool points, but overall, the relationships between characters felt too forced or unrealistic, and it ruined the flow of the story...plus I couldn't hang with POV narration from a 14/15 year old boy and how much he loved his dream girl that was dating his worst enemy.

This book is a great journey through Judas Priest's legacy, with each chapter covering individual albums from Rocka Rolla through Angel Of Retribution, as well as hitting upon Fight, Halford, and Tipton's solo albums. I listened to each album in Priest's catalog as I dove into each chapter, and it was a great ride.

I read a lot of Dean Koontz as a kid, and while I remember really enjoying his books, and devouring them one after the other, I don't really remember anything about those stories. I've been wanting to go back and revisit them for a while now, and finding a used paperback of Night Chills at the book store gave me my first opportunity. Wow. That was a lot of rape. I certainly don't remember that from when I read it as a kid in the 80's, but this was still a good, entertaining read for me. I was looking for this kind of nostalgic thriller, and Night Chills delivered.

This is my second Alex Cross book. It is entertaining, but I don't think I'll ever need to return to the series.

Motorcycle gangs! Drugs! Devil worship! Oh my! Yeah, this is definitely an 80's horror paperback. The only thing missing was a good guy driving a Trans Am... oh... sorry... yeah, it had one of those as well. Incredibly cliched with a totally off the wall plot line and some terrible dialog. Fun for a laugh, and that kick ass paperbook cover, but really, there isn't much substance here.
