Maybe it's the way it started, jumping right in, but I couldn't get into it. I took a leap with Josh Sundquist's Just Don't Fall years ago and loved it, but rock climbing isn't as interesting or captivating to me as skiing, I suppose.
I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sánchez

This book was honestly disappointing. I expected a raw, poignant book about love, and uncovering a mystery through grief. What I got was absolutely nothing. I didn't feel anything for any of the characters, and it was very anti-climactic.

I couldn't follow this book very well. It seems like it would be quite the masterpiece, but the way it's written with the long paragraphs, it feels too overwhelming to try to force my way through.
Stop Walking on Eggshells: Taking Your Life Back When Someone You Care about Has Borderline Personality Disorder by Paul T. Mason

This was a very insightful book, however it did seem to just be repetitive. I think this could be for people that suffer from BPD as much as it is for those who don't.

Just didn't seem like a novel I would enjoy, unfortunately.
I Hate Everyone But You by Allison Raskin, Gabe Dunn
3.0
I Hate Everyone But You by Gaby Dunn and Allison Raskin was a super quick read. I wasn't the biggest fan of the formatting, but once I settled in, I practically read the whole novel in one sitting. The characters weren't particularly compelling, nor was the insufficient plot. I didn't get attached to Gen or Ava, nor was the storyline really definite or engaging. I'll give it props for being a one sitting read, but the ending was meh. There was no real sustenance to it.
Identical by Ellen Hopkins
3.75
Hopkins's depiction of child sexual abuse in Identical is deeply unsettling. While I understand that making readers uncomfortable can be an intentional choice—since the subject matter itself is horrifying—her portrayal often feels excessive and disturbing. When I first read Crank and Glass, I didn’t pick up on this as much. Smoke and Burned were more tolerable, but many of her other books come across as gratuitous in their descriptions, to the point that I’m surprised more people don’t call it out. That said, I recognize that my reaction may be influenced by my own morals and experiences. And, in a contradictory way, I did enjoy this novel—it was just as frustrating as it was compelling.
Traffick by Ellen Hopkins

Not even Ginger's perspective could save this one. At least it wasn't as pornographic, more of the healing stories and the brutal reality of relapsing / old habits not dying hard. Still. Boring. I did enjoy the closure.
