a glimpse into the lives in a small, rural town, where the characters are authentic and as human as you can get. a tragically traumatic slice-of-life story that feels all too real.

i don't think my lizard brain is going to retain any of this knowledge (i've already forgotten most of it, but that's not on gooley). i think having diagrams or photos would really help... though i'm guessing it'd end up being a hefty book.

I think I need to read this one more time because I feel like I'd actually really like the book... but my first read took me 10 days on and off because I found myself just barely skimming through chapters to not DNF, only to remember nothing and having to go back and read sections again.

also he spent nearly an entire chapter on how something's basically wrong with you if you don't have any favorite type of egg, and i wholeheartedly agree.

first off, fuck ronald reagan (page 151 among others). a memoir and a history lesson in one. think "crying in h mart" but with enough history tidbits that'll have you hating the american government even more.
