I feel like I would have enjoyed the book a lot more if the religious overtones were left out. Overall decent read.

Absolutely gut wrenching from beginning to end. I recall her story in the news when it happened and feeling so sad, but hearing her words and personalizing the victim always makes it hit harder. She was so failed by the legal system. Fuck Brock Turner.

I quit reading at about 35% in. I know the book was written in the 50s where certain terms were more wildly used (not accepted or ok. But used.)
But after the about the 3rd use of more than one disgusting racial slur I'd had enough. I tried to keep going because the book is so widely praised as a classic... but honestly it made my stomach turn. Not for me.
