A must read.

Written in a super approachable way. Delivery of history and experiences of Black people in a very impactful way. As a white person trying so hard to show up better for people of color it touched on a lot of subjects and answered questions in a way that made me feel less ashamed for having them. This book also helped hammer home subjects that I felt I had a pretty good grasp on already as well. The glossary at the end was useful. Also... I wish way more educational books about race and culture came with a suggested playlist. An amazing way to continue to learn with the voices of other black people.

I read it because so many had listed this as a classic. I made myself choke down the subject matter. But even dumbing it down to just literary prose, I still have no idea why anyone would read it. It's not that good. Now add back in the subject matter... and I have finished it and am left with a feeling of no idea why. What a waste of time. Ew.

It's gonna take some time to process this one. Phew. It was so good. I wished it had 20 more chapters. I was drawn in straight from the beginning and it held my attention so well. 5 stars for sure.

Far less forceful than some other reads. It definitely follows the "doing something small is better than doing nothing" method which I find is definitely easier to absorb. Great ideas. Quick to get through and very easy info to weed through and share.

Terrible. Described as a thriller. I was 90% of the way through it, just begging for anything to happen. Disappointed.

Quick audiobook on a trip out of town. Predictable but decent enough to pass the time. 3 stars.

Meh. That's honestly the only word I could come up with. It wasn't horrible, but I got nothing from this.

Great intro level book. Easy to digest material.
