I am really conflicted on this book and wound up dnfing at about 50%. I thought the story, the idea, was brilliant. The atmosphere of a crumbling mansion in the southern part of the country that is very slowly but constantly drowning is such a beautiful tale in itself.
I really didn't enjoy the characters. This made it difficult to continue reading.
These are just my personal opinions. Thank you, Netgalley and Publisher, for this Arc!

This is a great book for any parents wanting to raise a future fantasy reader. The story had these pieces of warmth in it that really gave me the vibe of what the author describes in the author's note as a love letter to reading.
I absolutely loved the format of this story. The difference between the sections kept me interested and invested in how these parts would come together.
It's definitely something I recommend to fans of fantasy!

Wow! This had me so paranoid while reading in bed late at night! This is an incredible debut. I loved the author and the story so much more after reading the author's note, which I highly recommend.
This is about a social media star moving into a murder house. (By the way, that's a detail that really cuts down on price in case you were wondering.) This famous therapist is not exactly truthful about her peaceful life. Her marriage is breaking up, and she often ends each day passed out amidst empty wine bottles.
One thing that I loved about this book is how it picked up fast. What I mean is, I'm always so impatient for the scary parts to start happening, and this almost immediately satisfied my inner demon. I loved the whole vibe of this story and am hoping to see more from this author!!

I immediately requested this when I saw it described as an untelling of Romeo and Juliet. Especially because the main character is Rosaline and especially because I have always wondered about her!
I love Romeo and Juliet, particularly the 90's movie, which is really fun. But, I have always had this question in the back of my head: What is Rosaline's story. And, this untelling of Romeo and Juliet has a really great focus on many of the today, the now, issues with the original story. Yes, it's a piece of it's time which trust me, I really appreciate. But, also, I am alive right now in this time, so I feel like having some issues with or questions about what is right and wrong in classic plays and literature is completely normal.
This really takes those kinds of questions and gives this story the shake-up it needs. And, if this sounds interesting to you, if Rosaline, as a main character actively calling the shots on the relationship between Romeo and Juliet, sounds interesting..... Definitely check this out!

This blood curdling tale takes place in a fantasy world that is much like the Middle Ages in Europe. The plague has decimated the countryside besides those who are immune. Nico lost his whole family and now works for a Lord on his property with others who were saved. Seraphina is pretending to be Princess Imogen while trapped in the castle because the king is too scared to open its doors. All of this with an undercurrent of the antisemitism that took place around this time period.
I really enjoyed this. The story became a lot more interesting when Nico and Seraphina meet, and the real bulk of this tale takes place. I had fun and also loved the horror, including the vampires, which were a great surprise.

A winery in Oregon and friends reunited 15 years after a traumatic event. What could go wrong? Obviously, in a thriller, a lot.
This book definitely kept my interest. I had a lot of fun reading it even though some bits were a little predictable. It's a fast-paced, quick read that gave me my thriller fix!

This is a story rich in folklore and mythology. A gender-swapped retelling of Zoro that had all the action to back that up.
Although I feel like this story didn't have a perfect flow to it, I still enjoyed it. I felt more dazzled by the historical aspects of this book and less so by the characters.
Overall, this was a really interesting and entertaining read.
