great introduction to prison abolitionism! i kept wishing it would go into further detail, but because it is an introductory text i understand the need to keep it brief. would absolutely recommend to help people understand the basic concepts involved in prison abolition and why it's necessary.

this book expanded my mind and awakened so much wonder in me for fungi. fungi have always been a curiosity for me but sheldrake has stoked it into a much deeper interest... this book was slow to digest at first as i don't have much of a background in science, but the more i read it the more the concepts became familiar to me and the more my mind adapted to them. i'm gonna start growing mushrooms in my home now because of this book. not to get personal on storygraph.com, however. i've long been drawn to mycology but thought i wasn't smart enough for that kind of thing. for that reason, it actually felt vulnerable for me to start opening myself back up to reading about scientific topics like this. taking that leap back into my natural curiosity and wonder was really rewarding. i feel like this book was exactly what i needed at this point in my life to show me new possibilities of all kinds <3
