Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman

Absolutely fantastic. This is one of those books that I was almost sad that I finished, I enjoyed reading it so much. Fantastic characters. And for a book that is essentially apocalyptic (taking place during the plague), it is rather life affirming. Great stuff.
Blackened Roots by Nicole Givens Kurtz, Tonia Ransom

Top notch anthology. Even if you are "done with zombies", like I am, this is still an excellent read. A nice variety of stories, and all of them are well worth reading. Great stuff. Really enjoyed it.
The Anomaly by Michael Rutger

Super fun sci-fi/horror/action. Good quick, compelling read. Creepy and claustrophobic with enjoyable characters.
The Last Ringbearer by Kirill Yeskov
3.5
Fun re-telling/follow-up to The Lord of the Rings, but from Mordor's point of view. The middle section did tend to drag for me and felt less like something in Middle Earth, but overall it was a fun read.
Vincent Price: A Daughter's Biography by Victoria Price

Fascinating (and extensive) biography of Price by his daughter.
Confessions of a Puppetmaster: A Hollywood Memoir of Ghouls, Guts, and Gonzo Filmmaking by Adam Felber, Charles Band
4.5
Super fun memoir from Charles Band. If you are fan of his stuff, give it a read.
Woodworm by Layla MartÃnez

This one is sold as "horror" - but really it is best described as lite-gothic mystery. Even that is a misnomer. It tries to be atmospheric but does not quite get there. There is a bit of a mystery/red herring early on, but then is pretty much pushed to the sidelines. Honestly, the only thing that saved this from a "two star" for me was a decent arc for the main character and a surprisingly effect climax during the final 20 - 30 pages (not including the return-to-just-ok 10 page denouement).
