The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year by Ally Carter

This was the perfect Christmassy mystery read! I couldn't get enough of the romance and was rooting for the main character the whole time. The locked room mystery was engaging, and the old mansion and the famous author backstory were intriguing. I'll definitely be recommending this!

I had high expectations going into this book after I had heard great things about it. I enjoyed the mystery and had to know what happened next. I also liked Molly's character development and how she worked on her confidence and relationships with her coworkers and friends. This book also deals with grief very heavily. All in all, I enjoyed reading The Maid, but at times it felt slow.

This was a cute read, I especially loved the vet clinic setting and the pets. Unfortunately I felt that the relationship was a bit rushed. I think if it had been a full length book I would have enjoyed it more.

Ant-Man (Scott Lang) is one of my favourite Marvel characters, so I was excited to see that his book from the movies was an actual book! I liked the recap of Scott's adventures and the moral lessons he had to offer. However, at times, it did drag which took away from my enjoyment.

This was a cute Christmas read! The romance was adorable, and I loved the grumpy x sunshine vibes. Plus, the setting of the independent bookstore was so much fun! I'm excited to read more books by Chloe Liese in the future.

Faking Christmas was a fun cozy Christmas read with a fake dating twist. The romance was cute and filled with humour, and the plot was easy to follow and felt like a Hallmark Christmas movie. However, I wish that the book was longer so we could spend more time with the characters and see more of their growth.
I Hope This Doesn't Find You by Ann Liang

Ann Liang does it again! I had such a fun time reading this book, I absolutely loved our main character Sadie and related to her so much. Her perfectionism, drive to be the best and her need for academic validation was a refreshing point of view. I loved how stubborn she was and how a lot of her decisions are made in an effort to "fix" things. Julius was also a great character and I loved his grumpy and serious exterior. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Ann Liang does AMAZING academic rivals to lovers books and this is no exception! Sadie and Julius truly felt like rivals and there was a great slow burn where they gradually realized their feelings for one another! I would have liked to see a bit more development from Julius and more side characters but overall this book is definitely one of my favourite reads of 2024! I can't wait to read more of Ann Liang's books in the future.

I've finally finished my buddy re-read of the Heroes of Olympus series! The Blood of Olympus was just as fantastic this time as the first time I read it. A great end to the series and another amazing read by Rick Riordan. I'm excited to continue re-reading the Percy Jackson Universe soon!
