Unfortunately, this fell flat for me. I couldn't get invested in the romance and wished there was more of an emotional connection between the two main characters. But I did enjoy the small town setting and the relationships Georgie had with her friends and sister.
I've read a few Tessa Bailey books before and I've had mixed feelings about them. On a whim, I decided to pick this one up. Unfortunately, this isn't my favourite Tessa Bailey book but I enjoyed the main concept. I wished that there were more golf scenes and that we could have had more of a gradual transition into romance between the main characters. However, the grumpy x sunshine vibes were great!
A fantastic end to this trilogy! I loved the action-packed and fast-paced plot. The romances were adorable as always and the ending was super satisfying! I can't wait to read more of Leslie Vedder's work in the future!
Another Emily Henry book! I definitely enjoyed this one and thought it was a fun read. I liked our main character Daphne and especially liked how she was a child librarian which added another bookish element to the story. However, there was some miscommunication that took me away from the story. Overall, a great read!
This was so much fun! I loved the narration right from the get-go, and the intriguing characters and their stories pulled me in right away. The magic system was very interesting to learn about and felt very unique and different than any other book I'd read before. However, the ending felt a bit rushed and I would have liked for it to be a bit more drawn out. I also wanted to put a big trigger warning for animal death in this story. But the overall plot was filled with action and kept me on the edge of my seat. I'm excited to read more of Makiia's work in the future!
This was an interesting read! It had a bit of a slow beginning that felt info dump-heavy. However, once the action started, it quickly picked up. I enjoyed the sister relationship between Faron and Elara and I'm intrigued to find out what happens between them in the sequel. What I found the most interesting was the magic system and world history of So Let Them Burn, It was very well developed and thought out, making it feel as if it was set in a real place. All in all, a good read and I'm interested in seeing how the sequel continues from this cliffhanger ending.
I absolutely loved Kendare Blake's Three Dark Crowns series as well as All These Bodies so I had high hopes going into this. Unfortunately, it fell a bit flat for me. The beginning of the book is very heavy with world-building and it took a while for the action to pick up. The overall concept of magical warriors was very intriguing and made me want to learn more. However, I felt that I couldn't become invested in the characters. The main character made a few decisions that seemed very out of the ordinary for her and unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the romance. All in all, I enjoyed the concept but felt that the execution was lacking a bit. I'm unsure if I'll continue with the series but am still really interested in other projects Kendare Blake will have in the future.
This was a great end to the duology! Out of the two books, These Violent Delights is still probably my favourite. But this was a great read filled with lots of plot twists and turns that shocked me and kept me on the edge of my seat. The character development was intriguing and the world-building was rich and immersive. I'm excited to continue reading about these characters with Foul Lady Fortune!
