This is a touching story of young love that, at first, seems to build superficially but ultimately morphs into a genuine romance stifled by class dynamics in Casablanca. A fascinating look into 90s Morocco!

One of the most striking memoirs I’ve ever read. A must-read story of a woman with unbounded strength.

I found this to be a heartbreaking but thought provoking examination of privilege (& saviour complexes) and the experiences of so many female refugees around the world. A very meaningful read that I think will stay with me for a long time!

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for providing this ARC :)

Truly one of the most touching novels I have read about a young girl’s hope to be loved. The story begins when a young girl is given to a childless couple for the summer because her parents are too strained to take care of her. Throughout those few months she learns what it is to be nurtured before the summer comes to an end. A lovely read about found family.
