Plain Perfect, by Beth Wiseman
5.0
A wunderbaar Amish novel set in the quaint Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Beth Wiseman combines love, faith in God, friendship and family in a way that captures the reader and holds them to the very end!
Lillian Miller, trying to escape a life of lies and a relationship she doesn't need, flees to her Amish grandparents' home in Lancaster County, knowing all along that she will never fit in with her modern style. While there, she discovers truths about her past...things her mother never told her.
Samuel Stoltzfus is a young Amish widow, trying to raise his young son. He meets the young Englischer, the granddaughter of his close friends. He knows the rules of the Ordnung, but can he truly deny what he feels in his heart???
She's forced to choose between two worlds...one of lies and abuse, and one of simple, family oriented, Godly, plain living...and a life with a wunderbaar, caring man.
What will happen to Lillian and her perfect, modern life and Samuel, with his plain living? Will they face the truth of their feelings, hearts and God and become Plain Perfectin this amazing inspirational novel?
Grab some coffee and a copy of Beth's novel, sit back and enjoy this first book in a wonderful series, Daughters of the Promise! You'll be glad you did! This book truly deserves to be highly praised and I think you'll agree once you, too, have read Plain Perfect by Beth Wiseman!!!!! Two thumbs up and five stars to Mrs. Wiseman!!! Redemption, by Karen Kingsbury
5.0
I reviewed this book several years ago, so this is a reread review. I can tell you that my thoughts then were high on this book and not much has changed through the years. Mrs. Kingsbury's books were introduced to me by my mother many years ago, and I was hooked. Redemption was one of the first Kingsbury books that I read, and it is one of my favorites. I was instantly hooked on it the first time I read it, and the reread was no different. Whenever I find myself in a book funk, or I suffer a tragedy in my life, I pick up Redemption and am reminded that with God's redeeming grace, I can pull through anything.
As someone who went through a bad first marriage, this book truly hits home for me. There are many elements of the book that I went through but I didn't lean on God through it all like Kari did. I loved watching her character again. It truly felt like reuniting with a long lost friend. The pain and suffering she felt, once again became my own. The sadness and the struggling, were mine. I found myself wanting to wrap her in a big old hug and fall to my knees to pray for her.
This is definitely still a 5 star book in my opinion. Mrs. Kingsbury can create a novel that will suck you in, wrap you up in God's warmth and grace, and set you down in a brand new place. Her words will stay with you long after you've shut the pages, long after you've placed the book back on the shelf. She will leave you breathless and ready for the next book. I highly recommend this book to all!

Staying Stylish: Cultivating a Confident Look, Style, and Attitude, by Candace Cameron Bure
5.0
Who didn't watch Full House growing up? I know on Friday nights, I looked forward to the TGIF shows on TV and would snuggle up on the couch with my mom and sing at the top of my lungs, "Whatever happened to predictability.....". I loved tuning in every Friday night, mostly cause I had a crush on Uncle Jessie, but also, because I thought DJ Tanner was the coolest and often wondered what it would be like to have her for a big sister or a friend. Now, I'm all grown up with two kids of my own and I get to read her amazing accomplishments, most recently, Staying Stylish. It is currently the center piece of my coffee table where it will continue to be for me, and others, to look through on a daily basis. She gives absolutely amazing advice in this book.
Now, I am not a skinny woman. Not by a long shot, but reading through this book, Candace gives great style and healthy living advice in a way that makes me feel included. She incorporates her faith and love of God into her pages. Now a days, in the type of world we live in, we find people who all to often hide their faith and religion for fear of being judged or frowned upon. But not Ms. Bure. She lets it shine and it really makes this coffee table book the perfect addition for my family.
I am definitely pleased that I got this book. It is definitely full of 5 star worthy tips and suggestions. After closing the book, I sat there reflecting on her words and thinking about the things she said that I could do to make myself more stylish without really changing who I am as a person. I definitely recommend this book to all! Ms. Bure will capture your heart and you'll want to share this book with everyone in your life. I can't wait to get more of her books with fantabulous tips inside! Bravo, Ms. Bure. Bravo!

Christy, by Catherine Marshall
5.0
When I think of timeless classics, I think of books like this. This book, this amazingly written, profoundly captivating novel of a young woman who seeks to help the children of a small Tennessee town. Growing up, I remember watching Christy on TV with my mom. We would snuggle on the couch and watch as Kellie Martin and Tyne Daly would take over our TV. It was a wonderful show, and the book was just as wonderful.
Ms. Marshall's story of young Christy Huddleston is based on true life. I loved the attention to detail she put into the story. I was transported to Cutter Gap instantly and fell in love all over again with Christy, the men who care for her and the sweet children she yearns to help. The families among Cutter Gap are pieced together perfectly and really came to life for me.
This novel is one that will hit home with any reader who picks it up. There are messages from God woven in, ones the Christy Huddleston seeks for herself, and it's beautiful. Ms. Marshall had a truly talented knack for weaving a fiction novel based on the life of her mother and creating a story that will steal the reader's soul. This is beyond 5 star worthy and I will be keeping this on the shelf for many years to come!

12 Days at Bleakly Manor, by Michelle Griep
4.0
I love Christmas, and I love a good cozy mystery and this book has both! Ms. Griep has talented hands and created a story that not only captured me instantly, but kept me hooked on this book the entire time. Her twists and turns, her characters, her messages woven through out the book, truly made for a wonderful, one sitting read!
Clara and Ben are chiseled wonderfully for their roles. Clara, stood up at the altar, and Ben, the one who caused the pain. I wanted to throttle Ben a time or two but if he wasn't the way he was, I wouldn't have loved the story half as much! These two come to life among the walls of Bleakly Manor and the story unfolds in a most fascinating way!
I definitely recommend this book to all who want a wonderful, clean romantic story, that is pieced together among a Christmas mystery. It's 4 star worthy and one of my favorite Christmas stories of 2017! I am looking forward to adding the print version to my keeper shelf and to reading more amazing books like this in the future from the talented Michelle Griep! Bravo!

Woman of Courage, by Wanda E. Brunstetter
5.0
Wanda Brunstetter never ceases to amaze me! She is a brilliant Amish fiction author, and captivates her readers with each story. This book is a Quaker story, not Amish but her brilliance shines through just the same way. Each page turn brought me closer to the heart of the story, and left me with amazing messages from God. If you want a story that will warm your heart and stay with you for a long time to come, grab this story now. Wanda Brunstetter will not disappoint with this fabulous 5 star read.

Revolution, by Jennifer Donnelly
4.0
As someone who has dealt with multiple tragic losses, depression and anxiety all at the same time, this book really hit me with the emotions. I was feeling them all with this amazingly written novel from a truly talented author. From the start, Ms. Donnelly had me hooked. I picked this book up at the local used bookstore just to have something to read, not knowing the emotional connections I would have with all the characters.
Andi and Alexandrine are beautifully chiseled with their flaws and their pain and sadness. Both characters, while one in the present and one in the past, really tore at my heart. Alexandrine's character wrote in her journal, but the tragic loss she endured, the heartache she was dealt became mine. Andi's teenage mind, her rebelliousness, was so much like my own and the way she dealt with her pain, her loss, was so familiar to me.
That takes an incredible author to get me to connect so fully with their characters. This story of an epic revolution of mind, soul, and events, will really cocoon the reader. I stayed up long into the night, turning page after page, reveling in one world and then the next in an instant. These characters, this story line, this author deserve 4 stars and high recommendations from me, so that is what they are getting. I absolutely can not wait until I get my hands on another amazing story from this very talented author.

A Love Letter to Whiskey, by Kandi Steiner
5.0
This is my second time reading ALLTW, and my thoughts have not changed: an absolutely addictive novel. Steiner has incredible talent to mix a perfect romance novel filled with angst, hope, and sexy characters.
The journey Brecks, aka B, takes us on, seeing her get drunk on whiskey, reading the vivid descriptions, truly made me feel buzzed just reading the story. As someone who is a big whiskey drinker, I could feel the slow, delicious burn this novel created between Jamie and B's characters. The possessive feel that I got from Jamie had me quivering for more of him.
This book brought out all the feels in me. Just like the first time reading it, I cried for them during their painful moments, I laughed with them for their fun moments, I was angry at them during their stupid moments. And, I absolutely loved them wholly through all their moments. This entire novel, nee, love letter, was soul deep, raw, and fantastically chiseled. Epic, 5 star worthy novel!
