Bully, by Penelope Douglas
4.0
Holy smokes! I have NEVER read a Penelope Douglas book before and I don’t know why. She is phenomenal! This book. How do I write this review? I loved it. I hated it. I hated to love it. I loved to hate it.
I absolutely loved Jared. I absolutely loved Tate. They were incredibly chiseled. The pain and embarrassment that Tate felt was often my own and I cried. The Bully that was Jared was absolutely beautiful. His emotions rolled off the pages and became a part of me. I didn’t want to love him. I cussed at him, I yelled at him, I cried for him. It was brilliant. I can’t wait to go into his POV and see more of him. Feel more of him. Love him all over again.
I will tell you, this isn’t an easy read. It’s emotional, it’s powerful, it’s friggin fantastic but if you want a sweet, non angst read, this isn’t it. If you want a 4 star worthy read that will knock the breath from you, that will leave you reeling and ready for more, then absolutely pick this up. Fantastic job, Ms. Douglas. Fantastic job!
*I purchased this book for my own collection. All opinions, negative or positive, are my own.*

Beautiful Disaster, by Jamie McGuire
5.0
This is a re-read for me. But, just the same as the first two times I read this book, McGuire captured me instantly. She created these characters full of beautiful flaws, and their romance was full of burning passion. I loved Abby’s POV. I saw a lot of conflicting emotions in her, but I loved watching how she battle those beautiful, disastrous demons so she could find the love she was meant to have. And Travis Maddox. Oh Lawd, don’t get me started on him! He was so beautifully chiseled and his pain and trust issues really popped for me, making me want to comfort him! So, it’s safe to say, I give this novel a fully charged, high flying 5 star recommendation. You won’t be sorry you picked this one up for sure!

Beautiful Broken Mess, by Kimberly Lauren
5.0
Oh my gosh, I didn't think I could love this book more than Beautiful Broken Rules. I mean, I absolutely loved Jaxon and Emerson's story. But, Jace and Audrey? Oh, my! Their pain level was off the charts and their chemistry and passion was through the roof amazing! I literally cried for Audrey and Jace. I wanted their happy ending as if it was my own happy ending. Seriously, Kimberly Lauren takes all the angst she can find, and bundles it up into the perfect romance novel! Absolutely stunning! If you are looking for a quick, light-hearted read, don't grab this one. If you want a book that is 5 star worthy, beautifully written, and will leave you in a blubbering mess through, then absolutely grab this read, and let Lauren take you on that roller coaster ride of emotions. Fabulously done, Ms. Lauren. I can't wait to see what's in store with Promises!
A Better Next, by Maren Cooper
4.0
I don't read many women's fiction novels, but when I do, I want it to be one just like this. Maren Cooper is a new to me author, but she has amazing talent and really sucked me into the story. When I started this book, it was 6pm. By the time I finished and looked up, it was 2am. I read it one sitting! It was THAT addicting. I couldn't believe that this was her debut novel. Her writing style is amazing and it felt like she was a seasoned author.
I loved the way Cooper portrayed Jess Lawson. Her emotions jumped off the page, and into my heart, allowing me to feel everything she did. Seeing Jess go through the hurt and confusion of her husband leaving, of picking up the pieces and moving on, really hit home with me, from my own personal experiences. I love when a book does that!
Cooper did a wonderful job with this one, if you ask me. It's raw. It's emotional. It's real. Real life circumstances. True to life characters. Vivid details and a whopper of a message! If you are looking for your better next in life, I suggest you grab this 4 star novel up now and see just how Jess Lawson found hers. Great job on an amazing, beautifully written and emotionally moving novel, Maren Cooper! I am looking forward to another one just like it!
