⭐️⭐️⭐️.75/4 ⭐️- (I can’t decide) I really did like this book! It’s not my favorite COHO book but it was a fun and engaging read!
I loved the premise of Fallon & Ben meeting once a year on November 9th. I found this book to cause me to feel three different emotions: mad, sad, and happy. I found myself giggling, smiling, rolling my eyes, and cursing. Lol I gasped at the plot twist. Audibly gasped and froze. I had to pause for a few minutes before continuing! I read this in a span of two days. I instantly fell in love with Ben & Fallons relationship…or did I?

WHY OH WHY did it take me this long to read Slammed??? I LOVED this book. I know this book is controversial because of the main issue in question… yes it can be a bit cringey, but Slammed brought out every single emotion in me.
I mean every single one… I:
•Laughed
•Cried
•Was angry
•Was annoyed
•Smiled
•Hurt
•Loved
•Blushed
This story has depth to it. Love, friendships, grief, and family dynamics. The characters in this book developed beautifully and I adored them.
I guess I’ll have to continue the series at some point in the near future…..

it took about 24 chapters (out of 32) before I started to feel like there was a real story line.

⭐️⭐️.75- I was shocked that I didn’t love this book as much as I did the first two.

Okay so, this is going to be a more vulnerable review than the ones I usually post.

uhm it’s a no for me.

unpopular opinion; I enjoyed this book, but didn’t love it. Most people seem to love this book and it was overall a good read. I alternated between the kindle and audio versions. The writing style was nice. I did appreciate it as this was my first Emily Henry book.

I think this book did a good job at articulating how important communication is in platonic, romantic, and familial relationships.
This is your typical second chance, fake dating romance story. For the most part it was very predictable. A good read.
The only part that really resonated with me is the depiction of how friendships are constantly changing, growing together, growing apart, and how life can take a turn at any moment.

Yall…. This collection of poems is… *chefs kiss*

⭐️⭐️⭐️- ‼️TW: Suicide, loss of a loved one, depression, racism, unhealthy family dynamics‼️
I feel conflicted on how to rate this. I can truly appreciate what this book was trying to do. Do I think it could’ve been executed better? Yes I do. However since this is a YA book maybe the execution is where it needed to be. This one was of those books where the writing style made it obvious it was a YA book. From the beginning I wanted to love Alejandra Kim, the main character, but it was rough. While I could see her frustration because of stereotyping and fears of not fitting in, I sometimes felt like she was throwing herself a bit of a pity party. Of course, she’s a teen tho, so that’s to be expected.

This was a fun, quirky, and cute read. I love a good fake dating trope.
