The stories get better as you go, although I wasn't a fan of the first two and it really slowed me down. I finally got an insider's insight into the world of Bengali Americans. After having a few Indian friends over the years, that was cool to read about.

I never really thought that much about the DR and Haiti so it was cool to read about it. I liked the author's voice even though it could be R-rated at times.

I don't usually enjoy books so detail-focused and lacking in a lot of talking, but this story was so interesting, I couldn't pass it up. It really makes you think about who you would want to be with after an apocalypse.

Soooo hard to read if all you really enjoy are fiction books. I feel like I have to get through it, but I'm not sure I'm entirely convinced by his logic. We'll see, I suppose. in the meantime, I'm trudging along.

1.15.09: gave the book away at a christmas book exchange because I couldn't look at it on my bedside table anymore. I just couldn't get into it.
