Fun, queer cast and I am always a sucker for witchy tales. I don't know much about Russian tradition and this was really fun to read

Fantastic book! Diverse, dark magic school, a broody narrator who has to put tremendous effort into not becoming a villain, and a plucky heroic best friend/dramatic foil. I couldn't put it down.

Alix Harrow has solidified my spot for "favorite current author", with another diverse and witchy book about a willful young woman who loves to wander and a
wealthy villain who strips people of their autonomy

This is basically a love letter to the English language and is somehow the first book that I found myself yearning to have a physical copy of. Brilliant premise and a sweet family story underneath it all.
