Just wasn’t invested. It started out exciting and strong and then…boredom set in. It also felt very YA-the FMC gave me teenager vibes instead of 21 year old vibes.

Also I get that Lore doesn’t know anything about her history and is trying to figure that out, but with that being a plot point it felt like there wasn’t any world building…because the FMC doesn’t know the world so neither do we. Just not for me.

This book is not bad (at least as far as I got) by any means. I enjoyed the writing and the overall story of famous guy/regular girl was fine. I loved the fat rep and genuinely enjoyed April for the most part.

My hang up was the time jumping and the AO3 aspect and the snippets of Marcus’ films at the beginning of the chapters. I’m not a fanfiction person so I have no idea what that realm is like. And I just struggled with the beginning of the chapters. I started losing interest with Marcus and his “I must maintain my public image” thing. I just read another book with this in it and I just don’t enjoy that aspect of this story. Just be yourself, dude. I also looked up spoilers (lol) to see if my prediction for the 3rd act breakup was correct…it was. So I’m kind of glad I stopped while I was ahead. I just wasn’t a fan of the run around happening with these characters. To be late 30s, I just wanted more transparency from Marcus.

I started this and got to 20% and was RANTING about my feelings to my coworker. So I decided to try again. I started it over and here I am DNFing at 54%.

This simply isn’t for me. I was so excited for Viggo’s book, but he felt like such a 2 dimensional character. It didn’t feel like the same Viggo from the other 6 books. It annoyed me that he was keeping things a secret when that’s NOT the Bergman way. I didn’t like the weird “she’s my secret” thing when he only had a crush on her.

I couldn’t care about either of them and this is 100% insta love whether the characters know it or not.

I couldn’t stand to endure one more moment of being stuck in two people’s brains whose only thoughts are “omg age gap” or “I’m so horny but I won’t follow through because A G E”. I couldn’t do it. And I’m sad because I really liked Willa’s character. There was like zero plot and it also is SO SIMILAR to book 1, flawless. All the same tropes so it felt like the same book in a different font. I didn’t even get to the spice.

Was it perfect? No. Was it a tiny bit cringy at parts? Yes. Did I devour it and love it and do I already have the next one lined up and ready to go? Absolutely I do.

Beautiful. I loved the writing, the storytelling, and everything else about this book. I cried 3 times.
