This novella is basically a smutty beauty and the beast retelling that is also nightmare before christmas vibes. I wasn't mad at it and I will probably read more from this author in the future.

If you wanted a fast, interesting, RH monstery/fae novella - this is a good option for you! If you were wanting a lot of backstory and plot, you picked the wrong book because there are only 130 pages here and the last half is filled with smut. The author only has so much room to work with there!

I went into this book expecting it to be a 5 star and it fell flat of that expectation.

The writing was so pretty and descriptive! The plot had some issues and some jumping around that was kind of easier to push through.

The characters though... some of them read like early 2000s novels. The main characters were super gifted, great at combat, great at magic, everyone falls in love with them, etc. There's a love triangle too and that's also not my cup of tea (at least the way it's written in this book).

I'm still debating whether or not I want to continue on with the series, I will give it some time to rest and then decide later.
