I’ve followed Jada since her first tv show and appreciate her work as an actor and personality and was interested in her story. However the combination of her writing and reading made the book a more difficult listen for me. I skipped ahead to the start of chapter 6 before I gave up. For me it was the acting/writing combo. It felt inauthentic to me, maybe overacted? Disappointed because I still want the story - just more succinctly. It felt like she needed to write this for posterity rather than the art of writing; her prerogative. I just couldn’t go with her.
