well that was a ride– i'm not a fantasy girly and i had a problem with the first chapters being a setup instead of moving the plot but i guess that was necessary, i still enjoyed it very much!

This story completely absorbed me, not only because of the unprecedented nature of the event but because of all the learning it leaves behind. It is not just a retelling of the events as I thought, since I decided to read the book because before the movie I knew very little or nothing about the accident. By containing interviews with all the survivors, one is able to take a look at each transformation that occurred with them, and as they discovered themselves, they transformed me too.

The courage, resilience, hope and will to live of the survivors is so moving that it puts into perspective many aspects of how one manages one's own life. It teaches us that everything can change at any moment and as such, we must be able to value each instant. This book is an ode to valuing life, from the smallest things, until we have to face our own plane.
