i've read a few fiction books with a prepper at the spotlight, but nick was just as disappointing as the ending of this book. most of the preppers i've read can survive on their own and not rely on someone else to do the job. it was also ridiculous how angry the other characters were towards nick's "selfishness" when none of their problems would have happened if they didn't pick up the preggo teen. regardless, The Posh Prepper's brand of apocalypse was something different, albeit tedious with its long conversations and crash course on social psychology and propaganda.

the Sundown Series wasn't my first post-apocalyptic/zombie read, but it was definitely different from the others i have read. i've learned so much about prepping and have become engrossed with the Duncan siblings the moment i finished the first book.

tbh, i already knew what was going to happen by the end of this book. but it didn't stop me from crying my eyes out. the book was a bumpy ride of tense and emotional scenes. and following the author's note, i will let my mind wander to what the kids do as they become older and start to run the compound.

the smut was fine, but the story in general felt lackluster. i continued reading Hard Charger because i was expecting some action when the New Hope for America Work Corps was mentioned.

not gonna lie, the story got me on the first half. post apocalyptic menage reminds me of Flesh by Kylie Scott, and while this book had the same elements, the smut was okay, i guess i was expecting more about the apocalypse, the things happening outside their compound.

i almost dnf'ed this book because of the military worship and the american patriotism oozing out of its pages, as well as the weird sexism thing towards the daughters, but i pushed through. i have only read a few on post-apocalyptic fiction, mostly involving zombies, and now i am scared shitless of EMP's. before i started reading this book, i found out that the main protagonist had military background, and after reading the Sundown series, i felt disappointed by his lack of preparation.

but that ending, my goodness, i was really hoping for a miracle.
