I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did! With most romance stories I struggle to buy the development of the relationship within the defined time but here it kind of made sense? It’s the nuanced discussions of mental health for me, they didn’t have to be so real with those (yeah fine ok I will start looking for a new therapist again).
The conversations around asexuality and demisexuality made me tear up every time and need more books like that so badly (also more than one aspec character in my silly little book? In this economy???)
I was going to give this five stars until Choices Were Made at the ending that were just really weird to me? Like?? I’m sorry but it’s one thing to show up in the background of scenes accidentally but it’s an entire different thing to be deliberately edited into an entire season without consent and I just don’t buy the little thing he signed as an excuse.
no rating because I took a super long break reading this book and honestly just don’t remember that much? bit of a shame but I simply didn’t care enough to start again. maybe I will some day, maybe I won’t. (edit: almost a year long break?? damn maybe I should’ve restarted after all) Enjoyed this a lot more than book 2! The first half was a bit of a drag but it got better in the second half. Some things happened that I didn’t expect, it made me feel emotions at some point :((, cute ending. what can I say. I think I’m going to reread six of crows now <3
there’s something very comforting about picking up a new shonen series after quite some time, only to come across exactly the same character dynamics and tropes that you would expect
this started out as just a fun lighthearted show but the really compelling character dynamics and well placed emotional beats quickly build up the story for a bigger narrative and i'm super excited to see where this will lead to in future seasons.
