An excellent book with good, well-researched information. It’s given beautifully with plenty of illustrations. Skye Alexander never disappoints!

Absolutely amazing!! Dark and spooky and mysterious. Perfect for that kid who wishes that they went to a haunted boarding school!

An excellent guide to get started homeschooling. Riley supports her advice with previous research and science while also mixing her own personal anecdotes when homeschooling her son. The resources and references listed are also a good source to look into the topics of homeschooling and alternative schooling methods further!

The homeschooling information is great and I agree with most of it! I love that they were still able to get the most out of educating their children while having a slow lifestyle and adjusting everything based on the child.
However, the book unfortunately is VERY Christian centered, to the point where I’m not sure why God is brought up? There is no mention of Christianity on the title or cover, so this should have been made much clearer.
Additionally, while not blatant, there is slightly transphobic language such as “I grew up in a time when boys were boys and girls were girls”, so take note of that as well. Honestly, while the homeschooling info is good, you’re probably better off finding a different book that’s more secular.

It’s a good book! Classic fantasy adventure. Probably good for a kid just getting into fantasy—if you’ve been reading fantasy stories for a while though, you may get bored

Still such a lovely classic! And the narrator did a fantastic job of really selling the dreamy, sapphic vibes
