The Summer Book by Tove Jansson

A book where nothing bad truly happens. Even though there are hard facts, the goodness of the island is at the forefront. There is so much quiet and dancing pensiveness. I love the playful wit between Grandma and Sophia. So many lessons to learn from the island and one another! The lessons are as much for grandma as they are for the child. I truly enjoyed this little world.
I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

Really grateful for Jennette McCurdy speaking so frankly about the progression of her ED and it's impacts on her career, her relationships, and her process of discovering the dysfunction of her relationship to her mom. McCurdy is vulnerable in the details she chooses to share. I was relieved that nothing was sugar coated. She showed up authentically to tell her story. A very important and good memoir.

Here's how you could make friends, if you wanted to, but also if you don't want to, here's how you can enjoy your time with yourself and your cactus.

While I loved Joy and the layered complexity of romantic dynamics, I should remind myself that romance is not totally my thing! Yet, I keep stumbling into them. Looking forward to reading something else by Akwaeke Emezi, because their writing truly is gorgeous.
