Finished this the day it arrived. It is a book where the author goes into details about chakras. But it’s more of a memoir about her life than anything. I would have liked more information on chakras. Some parts were stories about her life and clients and marriage. Not that it’s a bad thing. I just thought it was suppose to be more educational. I did learn a little though. I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway.

Ever heard of the Pirate Sam Bellamy? Or the woman he was in love with Maria? They were real people. But the stories have always changed so much. Bellamy was to of died with his crew, but there were rumors that two sets of footprints went missing from Maria’s home around the same time. There’s been so many rumors about what happened to both Bellamy and Maria. This author fell in love with those stories and decided to write a book telling what she thought could have happened.

Set in a time when sailors could not find a job after the Spanish war. Society turned their noses up to them. You were not considered to high standards. Even if you were the military’s best sailor. Women had zero rights. It was their duty to marry who their parents chose. It was not often that they were able to marry for love. The Salem witch trials had made it much worse for women in the New England area. Anything could be considered witchcraft or that they were being controlled or involved with the devil. Parents from wealthy upbringing made sure that their daughter married someone who would help their family prosper. No matter how old or how mean the man was.

Maria did not want that life. She wanted to swim in the ocean. She was drawn to it. But women were not to do frivolous things. So she had to do it in secrecy. Sam was fresh from the war. Jobless and homeless. He did not have any family to come home to except an aunt. He had high hopes of finding decent work and making a life for himself. But, then he met Maria. He wanted to be around her more. So he starts to teach her to swim.

Sadly, Maria’s father was already in the process of promising her to a man so that he could finally trade with him and have more land. Of course when her and Sam fall in love, they go straight to her father. Being as Sam did not have a decent or upstanding job, her father wouldn’t allow it. Sam had an offer to go search for treasure from sunken ships. He was against it at first, but now he needed fast money in order to be allowed to marry Maria. He asks her to wait and she agrees. He did originally ask her to go with but she refused.

Does he make it back to her? Does she wait? Does she give up and marry the man her father wants her to? If she doesn’t her family will shame her and the town will think she’s working with the devil. Should she believe the pirate rumors about the man she loves? Is being at sea for so long changing him?

If you love a good historical fiction and pirates, then I suggest this book. Although it is fiction, there’s a good chance that it could be true, especially since they really did exist once.

I won this book through the Goodreads giveaway! And it’s such a big book, perfect for children, especially a classroom! The illustrations are amazingly done. I loved the fun facts about Mattis! It was such a cute read! I plan to pass this on to my cousin’s son who is starting to love books more than anything. I thought he would enjoy this as much as I did.

Of course the first book is still my favorite! Now they’ve gotten the thieves’ evil mom hidden in a necklace. Sedrick is in some weird coma because of her. Emyr’s father has went extremely crazy. Ashdan is now working for his father. No one has seen Calloway. Aedrian is basically trying to hold it together with the now good guy Killian. It just starts off a mess, but not a bad mess, chaos that makes for an amazing story line. In this book there’s traveling to other lands and meeting so many different types of people in this world. Amazing new characters that you will love! At least I did! But an ending that will have you going through all the emotions. I just hope that there is a third book to continue this story. This would make such an amazing television show!

I absolutely loved this one more than the first one! It’s basically the first book but this time you’re getting Juniper and Zane’s story. And you’re getting much more details in this one about things that happened before book one. And you get to know deeper things that happened that you were unsure of in the first book. I will say that Zane and Juniper’s love is just so much better than Rae and Leon’s. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book!

I was grateful to receive this arc through a Goodreads giveaway. I’ve always been fascinated by Harriet Tubman This author does an amazing job at detailing her life so much more than what history books or movies have show us. Teachers should be using this book in schools.
