I liked this one a lot! Montserrat is a bad ass, came wielding sound engineer with a deep love for old school horror. Her character was extremely engaging to me!
Without spoiling anything - I thoroughly enjoyed the authors use of horror to explore themes like racism, colorism, and cultural theft. You don’t often get occult centered books that are honest about most of the practices being stolen from POC & Indigenous people.
The playlist of movies and songs in the back is a nice touch.

I love this book - this was a reread.
The book is well paced and extremely informative. There are some subjects I’m more interested in than others but the balance of clinical, historical, personal stories, and practical guides for activities breaks it up nicely and gives you a jumping off point to delve deeper. In my early dips into the lifestyle this book helped me to find sex positive educators to follow and learn from.
If you’re listening to the audiobook I highly suggest following along with a digital or physical copy otherwise you miss out on some great visual resources.
Some things could obviously updated - I’m sure Barbara (Chap 7. Tantra) now understands that it’s it’s inappropriate to say “as a radical queer (I describe myself most frequently as a young black drag queen in a blonde female body)…”.
Other than that - an outstanding resource to start asking questions, having conversations, and finding out what you like.

While I don’t usually enjoy jumping around to a different perspective per chapter - I think it’s only because I want to spend more time with Wylan and Jesper. Absolutely my favorite of the crew.
These start off fast paced and do not let up throughout the book! I’ll be revisiting the Grishaverse for sure!

So fucking good. Like any collection of short stories there will be some that rise above but this one managed to keep me locked in and on edge until the last page. My only complaint is I want full length books out of most of these.
Probably my favorites were the first with Friar and Remi dealing with Friar and Remi and the final story.
Also excellent idea fodder for setting up one-shot DnD horror quests.
