I don't know how Sanderson can crank out so many books of this quality, but this seems to be the beginning of a great (and long) series. Although in many ways similar to his other books, this one feels a bit less resolved at the end; however, plenty of great revelations/explanations come at the end and still give a good ending.

A fun read. A pretty fast paced 600 pgs. It's pretty funny in places and I liked the color based magic system and plenty of characters painted in shades of grey. The book makes use of an unusual amount of dramatic irony and these secrets a nice tension since you're wondering how various characters react when they learn the truth. I look forward to pert 2.

Novik is fun and entertaining as usual, but this installment seemed quite short to me.

A fun fast paced YA.
