This kind of narrative isn’t for me and that’s okay. I’m not really the target audience for this story. But I’m glad it’s out there for whoever it’s meant for.

I prefer to read Palestine’s stories from the perspective of the Palestinians. Something about this book’s perspective rubbed me the wrong way. I’m sure it’s worthwhile, but for now, I’d rather read about stories that aren’t from the perspective of privileged European travellers. I think I’ve had enough of that perspective even from TV, movies, and documentaries for a lifetime.

I have a few gripes about certain terms being used as short for cruel, like narcissist. But overall, with a few exceptions that I felt were not as deft as the others, this collection is a necessary explosion of intersectional feminism, condemnation of the notion of "perfect victims", and the horrors of rape culture and all whom it tortures. This collection is a rallying cry for the marginalized. I hope this one makes waves in CanLit and poetry.
