I really enjoyed this book. It was an emotional story about a woman finding and treasuring her chosen family after a toxic relationship, set in a magical and historical world. I found the characters to be relatable, especially Rin. Although I hate the antagonist from a personal standpoint, I find his writing to be compelling.

I will say that I felt a few small things were left unanswered and/or without a payoff, such as
what happened to Mr. Davidson and why Charles would have died if he stayed in the present time
but they were not such big questions that would have left me feeling completely unsatisfied.

This is one of my favorite books I've read so far in 2024. It's filled with purple prose, so if that's not your style, you won't enjoy it anywhere near as much as I did.

Something I really appreciated was the format of the book, where it was a letter from Little Dog to his mother. I felt that this was a great way to explore their specific relationship, while also giving the author more freedom with the flowery language.

I *loved* this specific quote from this book: "To be or not to be That is the question. A question, yes, but not a choice."

Great book! It was well written and interesting, taking the time to thoroughly explore ideas about English and dictionaries that I had never even considered before.

I found this book very enjoyable. The writing style was simplistic in the best way, where it was easy to understand while still capturing my attention. Good, in-depth characters, as well.
