God, I wish i didn't start this series
<Spoiler>Book 1: was the worst for so many reasons but mainly how Ophelia was a meh chch, i genuinely didn't care what happens to her because she allowed it all to happen. Yet i kept going because mama didn't raise a quitter and because the world was so well written

Book 2: was good as her chch started to develop and we could see more of the other chchs, the last 20% was probably the best part of this series

Then the second part of Ophelia's journey begins in Book 3 and as a reader i felt like i'm reading a completely different book, she is thrusted into a different world that has nothing common with the one we see in the first two books ( it felt like this one doesn't belong to the same world of the first two) even more was the fact the Ophelia herself was different however i still loved Book 3 alot as it was heavy on the political references and discussions

Book 4: This one was divided into 2 parts, first one was a continuation of book 3 then part two was a "WTF is going on?"
The questions kept piling up over each other through the first 3 and half a book and somehow in the last part of this one they wanted to solve everything. Yet, it wasn't solving. I DON'T understand it.. it was trying to be smart and poetic but failing (may be something was lost in translation, idk) but honestly i was pushing through hoping to have a good ending, and despite the last part of the book being intriguing, fast (which is a miracle given how SLOW this series is) and gripping (i really couldn't stop reading)  it was rushed, confusing and weird at best, i could understand how things happened but NOT why they happened or the message the author wanted to deliver.
the ending was sad for me because i really loved those chchs which were sacrificed for no good reason in my opinion. who ends a series on a cliffhanger?!!

*Spoilers*
Personally, given how NOTHING ended well in all the four books, i assume that Ophelia will live her whole life trying to pass to the in-between for Thorn and failing.

I mean every lovable chch in this series ended with a sad ending
ARCHIBALD? is terminally ill and will die soon
Lady Hildergard? Had to commit suicide in order to prevent something that happened in the end anyway, and her death description will haunt me
Fox and Gail? DEAD
Little Ambros? DEAD
Berenilde? Lost Thorn and will soon lose Farouq
The family sprits? Will soon die
Elizabeth/Eulalia? Will die by the end of the fucking day

And finally Thorn! Lost in the in-between and lost in history as a criminal not appreciated by anyone but Ophelia who btw will live her life sad and torn in an unending quest to find him and if she did find him then she opens the door for history to repeat itself as the "Echoes" which have disappeared as the door between both words shattered (the mirror) will have to reopen for her to pass and find Thorn or even to get him out as the balance will require a compensation. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh

Venessa's character development was literally squashed at the end
