This one was a delightful surprise, it was a sold 4 stars till the last 10%. I kept wondering when will everything unfold, how will it be solved, i had genuine fear that the author will rush it. And at the 87% mark, my fears solidified. Plus i didn't like the sudden change in Parish's stance towards Cailin.
Spoilers:
I like how the author did the "i hate you, and i hate that i'm attracted to you" thing.. the progression of their relationship was flawless from distrust, to curiosity, to attraction, to understanding, to love. It took it's time and i loved it. By the end, Parish was accepting his feeling towards her. So what's the problem? It was how he changed from "yes i want you but i have duties to fulfil. And i'll use you however i need to, humiliating you, allowing others to physically attacking you" to " I'm sorry, i'll make you my queen, please don't leave me".. it was too fast. But i was quite surprised that he didn't grovel, because honestly, i understand his motives. I wish Cailin would have protected herself from him more - because girl he just made his brides to be use you as an arrow target to dissipate their internal disbute- but i kinda see what the author was doing beacuse they literally were just using each other, and Cailin genuinely believed she shouldn't expect more from him.
