Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World by Gary Vaynerchuk
4.0
This book came out originally in 2013 so as far as social media marketing strategies go, it’s a bit outdated — I mean, he has a section about Vine in here! However, a lot of the basic information and tips he gives are still wildly relevant and helpful, and are explained in a manner that’s easy to absorb. If he came out with an updated one for 2019 I would read it in a heartbeat.
The Paradox of Choice: Why More Is Less by Barry Schwartz
2.0
While Schwartz brings up a lot of interesting points, it does often feel like he’s repeating himself, or stating in 1 chapter what could be easily conveyed in a few pages.
Similarity, towards the end, he talks about the increase in depression/suicide rates (middle of chapter 10) and basically comes to the conclusion that the increase in the number of choices we have to make directly correlates to the rise in suicide. While it’s true that increase of choice may slightly contribute to rise in depression/suicide, it seems like there are a slew of other factors that have far more of an impact than # of choices. I thought that was poor science in his part.

Recursion by Blake Crouch

The writing is great and I devoured the first half. But the plot was just so far-fetched and non-sensical to me that I completely lost interest halfway through when a million different timelines emerged. Couldn’t finish it.
