I love nonfiction books where the author goes through their own character arc over the course of their research. (Shoutout to Mary, my most loyal library patron, who recommended this to me)

see, THIS is "romantasy" to me; not following one particular relationship between two people, but an entire magical universe suffused with healing and love in all forms

I found the anachronistic turns of phrase and anthropological/scientific knowledge to be extremely distracting, but keep in mind, I'm the most annoying and least fun person you know.
(clarifying note: I don't mind historical inaccuracy, but "modern when it's convenient for the characters and medieval when it's convenient for the story" doesn't work for me)

I think the secret to success is being extremely silly, while also being the same amount true & honest & sincere. Also I just had 4 glasses of Prosecco

I have been waiting for this sequel since the release of the first book in my freshman year of high school, but the suspense & plot twists gave me the same visceral delighted shock like no time had passed at all.

The order in which this information was relayed baffled me. And I'm not talking about "the narrative failed to build suspense effectively," I'm talking about "this person's role in the story happened in chapter 4, but their background and physical description were only brought up in chapter 10"

Lara: I'm sorry, Duke, but I could never love you as much as I love the rural Michigan cherry farm I visited once in my 20s
Duke: Honestly? Same
